General Marquee Hire Information
Our marquee hire services are suitable for a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, festivals, private parties, exhibitions, and outdoor gatherings. We provide customised solutions to match the specific needs of your event, whether it’s a small, intimate gathering or a large-scale event.
We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure availability, especially for peak seasons like summer and around holidays. However, we understand that sometimes last-minute bookings are needed, so please contact us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your timeline.
Yes, all our marquees are designed to withstand various weather conditions typical in the UK. They are made from high-quality, durable materials to provide shelter and comfort for your guests, whether it's sunny, rainy, or windy. We also offer heating and cooling solutions as part of our service.
Absolutely. Our marquees can be set up on a variety of surfaces, including grass, concrete, gravel, and even uneven ground. We’ll assess your chosen site during a site visit to ensure the structure is securely anchored and installed properly.
We can install on various surfaces and if pinning is not possible then the marquees can be weight ballasted.
The marquee should not cause any lasting damage and although the flooring may leave indentations the grass should quickly recover. If the marquee is on site for several days then the grass can start to yellow but again it should come back fairly quickly.
A marquee can be erected almost anywhere although a flat, level, grassy site with good vehicle access is ideal and would be the most cost effective. It is still possible to install marquees on difficult sites since specialised flooring systems and trackway can combat most site issues although there would often be cost implications.
We will endeavour to install a marquee to meet the needs of the clients. Over the years we have had some challenges e.g. using our steel sub-based floors to build over outdoor ponds or on particularly sloping sites. A quick site visit can normally assess the feasibility.
Yes, there is no reason for marquees not to be used throughout the year, however it is always wise to respect the weather and look at the site factors. If a site is particularly exposed to prevailing winds then it is always best to have a Plan B in place as a contingency.
No sorry, we only offer modern Clearspan marquees (Clearspan as they have no internal poles). We do have a range of sizes available.
Assuming there are no obstructions then it can be possible to place the marquee very close to doors or patio doors. If it is not possible to place the structure directly against the house then a small 3m link can often solve the problem. A site visit is usually required to be absolutely sure.
Choosing the Right Marquee
All our marquees are modern Clearspan Style and come in a variety of sizes. Our smaller 6m and 9m wide units are built up in 3m increments and have an internal eaves height of 2.4m. This is the most common size for family events and are ideal up to guest numbers of around 100-120.
Our 12m and 15m structures work fanatically for guest numbers from 100 onwards.
We have many years experience of sizing wedding marquees and we like to ensure that there is enough room to accommodate all guests throughout the day/evening in case the weather is inclement and everyone is inside at all times.
Through discussions about guest numbers for both day and evening and an understanding of what the marquee is to be used for e.g. ceremony only; ceremony then drinks, dinner, dancing; dancing only, we can work out how much space will be required.
We would normally recommend that the dance area is kept clear throughout your event so that it can be used for the ceremony, or drinks reception, or buffet layout. Using the whole area for dining and clearing furniture for dinner afterwards can leave space very tight if the weather is particularly bad and may have an effect on the guests enjoyment of the wedding.
We try to be as flexible as we can with all clients and are happy to tweak the size of the structure as guest numbers are confirmed. It is always wise to keep in regular contact so that we are aware that there may need to be a change in size.
Yes, after a chat about your thoughts and ideas we can provide a drawing to help you envisage the space available.
Setup, Logistics, and Timing
We aim to be as flexible as possible with every client and the install/removal will depend on where and when your event takes place. If you are using a venue where the marquee is using their car park then they probably want it installed the day before and removed the day after. If the marquee is in your garden and you want to do a lot of the decorating yourself then it can be installed a few days before. We are always happy to leave the marquee in place for a day or so after the wedding for another informal get together which is becoming very popular.
Yes, our team handles everything from setup to takedown. We’ll work around your schedule to ensure the marquee is ready well before your event and removed promptly afterward, leaving the site clean and undisturbed.
Most marquees are heated using indirect heaters which sit outside and blow warm air through ducts and are thermostatically controlled. We adjust the number of heating units supplied dependent on the size of marquee, time of year and weather forecast thus ensuring that a marquee can be adequately heated at any time of year.
A variety of lighting effects are available. We include a modern white globe chandelier as standard but can provide a range of lighting effects including LED entertainment lighting, globe lighting, fairy lighting, uplighters, wrought iron chandeliers all from our own stock.
Yes, the PVC windows can be opened and it is a fairly straightforward process (we can instruct a member of the wedding party on how to do it).
Our lighting and heating requires very little electricity which can normally be drawn from a nearby building/house.
Access to water is normally required for use by the caterer, this can be as simple as running a hose from a local water supply.
We don’t own toilets but have many years experience so can make the arrangements on your behalf. If budget allows or weddings are in the colder months then it can be wise to have the toilet trailers housed within the marquee. This area can be a simply marquee roof or can be fully finished as an integrated part of the function area.
Marquee Customisation
Our standard package would include the marquee (sized to suit), floor (again style to suit the site), kitchen area, pleated ivory lining (with ivory swags), globe or chandelier lighting and internal power distribution (sockets for catering, bar, phone charging, other features).
There are a variety of upgrades available to the internal finish e.g. star cloth ceilings, a range of chandeliers, entertainment/dance floor lighting, fairylights, LED Uplighters, carpets, coloured swags and overlays.
More major upgrades would be the inclusion of additional function areas e.g. a separate ceremony area/marquee, chill-out areas, night club area.
Yes, we provide full customisation options to create a unique space tailored to your event’s theme and style. This includes décor, lighting, flooring, furniture, and layout. Our team will work with you to bring your vision to life.
Standard finish for a wedding marquee is a wooden floor, windows, doors, softly pleated ivory lining, lighting and heating (with a carpet being down to personal choice). After that the additional decor opportunities are endless.
We are also happy for clients to add their own extra decor such as lanterns, bunting etc. We can also recommend some venue dressers that can assist with internal dressing of both the marquees and tables.
We are happy to work with clients or their suppliers.
Catering, Bar, and Facilities
A caterer normally needs some form of ‘behind the scenes’ area and depending on the menu choice and the caterer the size can vary. The most effective way (from cost and logistics) is to extend the marquee and put in an internal partition to make a kitchen area. If there is not enough space in the length of the marquee site then it can be possible to add a kitchen on to the side of a structure.
Simple bar counters can normally be incorporated into function areas but a feature bar area may need additional space which can be incorporated as a bar/chill out area.
We can arrange toilets for your wedding using tried and tested suppliers that we have worked with over many years. Normally for a wedding up to around 150 guests a 3 + 1 Trailer (3 ladies cubicles, 3 gents urinals and 1 cubicle) will be ideal. For slightly less guests you can opt for a smaller trailer but it can lead to queuing at certain times. We can give you options and advice to allow you to make a decision to suit your wedding and/or budget.
We tend to supply tables and chairs (although some caterers prefer to do that) but linen, tableware, glassware etc is normally looked after by the caterer. Should you wish to organise your own furniture and tableware we are happy to advise.
Cost, Insurance, and Booking Terms
We are often asked “how much is a marquee wedding?” but it is impossible to answer this question. Each marquee is individually priced dependent on size required, internal finish, associated equipment and location. However, with a few basic details a quotation can be supplied very quickly.
Very often it can be possible to secure some special deals either early or late season. Thanks to email it is very quick and easy to supply a quotation so anyone considering a marquee wedding should ask us for a quick marquee wedding quote to get an indicative price.
We send our Terms and Conditions with every quotation so that you are clear on the payment terms, cancellation implications and when payments are due. We normally look for a deposit of 25% at the time of booking.
Yes, we look for our clients to take responsibility for insuring the marquee and if there is a wedding insurance policy in place then it is normally possible to include.
It is difficult to advise on how early a booking needs to be made. Peak summer dates can sell quickly but most marquee companies are able to service several weddings each weekend.
If you have received a quote and are considering a date then it would be wise to keep the marquee company informed as they can always let you know when a date is selling out and give you the chance to secure it if you wish.
Early and late season dates are often available at much shorter notice.
Using the Marquee
Yes, our marquees are suitable for year-round use. In colder months, we provide heating options to keep your guests comfortable, and our structures are designed to withstand winter weather conditions.
Yes we are happy for you to use it the next day.
Yes, nowadays all types of ceremonies including religious, celebrants and registrars can be held within a marquee. Even if you are planning an outdoor ceremony, we can allow enough space within the function area to accommodate your ceremony should the weather be inclement.
Tips and Recommendations
A wedding day is one of the most important days in a couple’s life and it is important that everything goes well and it is important that they secure a marquee company that they have full confidence in.
A chat on the phone or a meeting should give a good indication of the relationship that would be formed over the months running up to the big day.
It is always wise to find out about previous marquee weddings they have provided and get examples of where they have worked and perhaps ask for venues or clients who would provide a reference.
Assuming that financial implications are not a barrier then a marquee is right for your day if:
- You have a special place in your life and want to get married there.
- You want a venue that can be completely tailored to your wishes and style.
- You would love to become involved in all aspects of venue theming and design, furniture options, ancillary services – all choices not necessarily available at a hotel venue (a good marquee company will gladly assist you with this).
- You want to have the flexibility to change the size of your function space as your plans evolve.
- You have confidence in your marquee supplier e.g. respond to enquiries quickly, are happy to answer any number of questions, have previous experience and are happy to supply referees.
We can recommend venues and locations that we know accept marquees if we know the area that you are looking at.
Yes we are always happy to look.
